Boy, 3, dies at family festival in ‘unexpected’ tragedy
A three-year-old boy has died at a car festival after suffering a ‘medical episode’.
An air ambulance was rushed to CarFest, in Overton, Hampshire, on Saturday but the child died shortly afterwards.
Hampshire Constabulary are treating the death as ‘unexpected’.
A spokesperson for CarFest said: ‘There was a medical incident on the festival site on Saturday, August 24.
‘The incident was attended to by the onsite medical and security teams supported by the NHS.
‘The patient was taken offsite to hospital.’
A Hampshire police spokesperson said: ‘Shortly after 11pm on Saturday, August 24, officers were made aware of a medical episode involving a three-year-old boy at CarFest, Overton.
‘The child was taken to hospital, but sadly passed away a short time later.
‘The death is being treated as unexpected and a file is being prepared for the coroner.’
Thousands of people go to the event held on a family-run farm annually to admire cars, watch live music, meet TV hosts and get involved with food demonstrations.
