I gave my son an OTT celeb-style birthday party with nothing but Shein decorations – you can’t go wrong for the price

A MUM has explained how she threw a celebrity-style party for her son’s first birthday for a fraction of the price.

Jessica said that instead of forking out for a party planner, or expensive decorations, she picked up virtually everything she needed on Shein.

She took to TikTok to share a rundown of the things she ordered from the site, and what they looked like when set up for the ‘Wild One’ themed party.

First up, she got three ‘alphanumeric candy trays’ for £5.95 each, in the letter O, N and E.

Instead of putting sweets in them, Jessica used them to hold the cupcakes, which ended up looking so “cute”.

However, there was a slight issue in that the N arrived backwards, but luckily the “cake lady sorted it”.

She got a confetti gone holder and cone gift bags for £3.75, which the “children loved”, as well as a jungle-themed balloon arch for £7.69.

“A couple of the animals blew away at this point but we put two around the backdrop,” Jessica said.

“I thought it would have been a little bigger, but can’t go wrong for the price!”

Next up were three boxes which spelled out O, N, E and held balloons inside, and Jessica was thrilled with them – so much so that she used them for “home decor and birthday party decor”.

She got a ‘Wild One’ backdrop for £7, and said it was “so big”, giving it a “10 out of 10”.

As well as getting a photo banner showing her son every month of his first year for £2.

Jessica bought four plastic cookie jars for £8 in total, as well as some sweet tongs.

And while she couldn’t find many green sweets to tie in with the theme, the “adults and older kids enjoyed them so never mind!”

The last thing she bought was a cute ‘Wild One’ tablecloth, which she didn’t get a picture of but said the “quality was so good”.

“I’m glad I’ve seen this,” one person wrote in the comments section.

“I’ve been looking at ones on Shein for my daughter’s 1st bday but was unsure on quality.”

“Shein can be so hit and miss but couldn’t fault any of this!” Jessica replied.

What is Shein and is it legit?

Shein is an online-only fast-fashion retailer, based out of China, that has become a number one shopping destination for many around the world.

The company was valued at $66billion in 2023, dwarfing that of popular high street brands Zara and H&M.

The fashion retailer was founded in late 2008, by entrepreneur and marketing specialist Xu Yangtian, also known as Chris Xu.

Shein is a legitimate selling website and is not a phishing scam.

But you may receive a disappointing order or run into shipping issues if you order from the site, according to reviews.

There have been swathes of quality complaints, which makes sense when looking at the price tag.

“How long did the balloon arch take you to do?” another asked.

“Debating ordering one for my son’s Wild One party.”

“I actually paid someone on my Facebook £30 to do it as she used to do them haha!” Jessica laughed.

“I’m not great at them but she took about an hour”.

“I just did my wedding party decor with everything from Shein,” a third said.

“So, so impressed!”
