ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Happy Thursday! Meteorologist Rob Lindenmuth says the temperatures will be more comfortable today with highs in the mid-to-upper 70s and much less humidity.
There was a fire at a vacant building on Sunset Street in Albany. Also, a second arrest was made in connection with the Dick's House of Sport robbery. These stories, and more, are in your five things to know this Thursday.
1. Fire on Sunset Avenue in Albany
The Albany Fire Department responded to a fire Thursday morning after receiving reports of one on Sunset Avenue in Albany at 6:17 a.m. The Albany Fire Chief reported that the fire was controlled at 6:45 a.m.
2. Second arrest made in connection to robbery at Dick’s House of Sport
Lyric Jones, 21, of Albany, was charged with robbery, assault, and criminal possession of a weapon. She was sent to the Albany County Jail with bail.
3. No signs of pilot impairment in fatal Colonie plane crash
Investigators have released the toxicology report of the pilot who was killed in a June plane crash in Colonie. Police said Natalie Gillis was not impaired by alcohol or drugs at the time of the crash.
4. Abrupt ending of meeting to approve Airport Capital Plan
Earlier this month the 2025-2029 Capital Program Plan for the Albany County Airport was submitted for legislative action. NEWS10 had a crew at the meeting that turned contentious and ended abruptly.
5. Albany Airport creates exhibit for Natalie Gillis’ photography and poetry
A new art exhibit at Albany International Airport is highlighting the remarkable life and work of Canadian pilot Natalie Gillis, who died when her plane crashed minutes after taking off.
