Rental Guests Accused of Causing Massive Flood With Pizza
A homeowner who rents her house on Vrbo alleges that two nightmare guests caused hundreds of thousands of dollars in water damage after stuffing the drains with pizza. Now, her livelihood and that of the small business below her is imperiled. Ashley Deutsch made the unbelievable claims to AZ Family, and she provided the footage to prove it.
Deutsch is still trying to piece together exactly what happened at her Sheboygan Falls, WI, rental property earlier this month. One thing is for sure, though: the guests’ feeble attempt at a coverup was over before it began. The owner’s phone began buzzing at 4 a.m. with a live feed of incriminating footage.
The two male guests were photographed by Deutsch’s security cameras arriving home in an unstable state, beers in hand, and threatening violence towards one another. “I’ll f---ing fight you in the streets,” one says before they disappear into the house.
Just seconds later, after discovering the flooding, the two men came back outside to devise a cover-up. “For right now, let’s get this,” one can be heard saying. “We can say we woke up to it.”
Subsequent footage shows the guests dropping paper towels, bedding, and rugs down the stairs into the sodden entry level.
Deutsch said the flood used up 640 gallons of water and was a result of the guests leaving the faucet running for hours after they had stopped up the drain. “The sink was clogged with pizza and things that they might’ve had at dinner,” the mom of four recalled. “It’s so frustrating to hear them trying to come up with lies to excuse their behavior as he’s wringing out a towel with his feet.”
The destruction was so severe that it damaged the tattoo shop below Deutsch’s apartment. Jamie Princeon opened the small business just a few months ago, and now it will be closed through at least the end of September.
“It was just soaked,” Princeon said. “Hundreds of hours of work into making this studio what it was and just seeing all of that just kind of ripped away,” she lamented.
Both Deutsch and Princeon plan to take legal action against the two guests. Both women have already had to sell various personal belongings to pay for the repairs. “I think that we will come back a lot stronger,” Princeton said of herself and her upstairs neighbor.
