Kamala Harris reveals in CNN interview her 'day one' priorities

Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris revealed what she'll do on "day one" in the White House, should voters elect her on Nov. 5.

In her first sit-down interview as the candidate at the top of the ticket, Harris told CNN anchor Dana Bash she has a "number of things" she'd like to accomplish.

Among her top priorities: boost the middle class.

"When I look at the aspirations, the goals, the ambitions of the American people, I think that people are ready for a new way forward in a way that generations of Americans have been fueled by hope and by optimism."

Harris added she thinks it's sad that the former president — whom she didn't name — has been pushing "an agenda and in an environment that is about diminishing the character and the strength of who we are as Americans. Really dividing our nation. And I think people are ready to turn the page on that."

When pressed again on what she'd do on day one, Harris said she'd implement her economic plan, in which she laid out "a number of proposals" including one that would raise taxes on the wealthy and another aimed at combatting price-gouging.
