Why Barton Springs is closed

AUSTIN (KXAN) — On Thursday, the Austin Parks & Recreation Department (PARD) announced Barton Springs Pool would be temporarily closed.

According to the department, the close was due to maintenance.

“Staff is working diligently to reopen the facility as quickly as possible,” PARD said.

According to a statement, the maintenance was associated with the pool and not the Joan Means Khabele Bathhouse Rehabilitation project.

The City of Austin said further updates on the pool’s status were available online.
