South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said a number of residents had reported feeling unwell with symptoms similar to carbon monoxide poisoning.

They were rushed to the University Hospital of Wales for further tests.

Four fire engines were called out alongside several specialist officers and appliances.

Crews at the scene worked to establish the origin and cause of any potential toxic gas leak.

However, they were unable to detect any hazardous materials in the atmosphere.

According to the fire service, around 60 residents were evacuated from the building as a precaution, and a rest centre was set up at the Coal Exchange.

The fire service confirmed all residents have since been allowed to return to their properties.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
