Steven Gerrard is looking at bringing Spurs youngster to Saudi Arabia – Journalist
Spurs have been pretty effective at moving their younger players on this summer, with many securing important loan moves to gain first-team experience. However, one starlet is now being linked with a shock move to Saudi Arabia.
Alfie Devine an option for Al-Ittifaq
Alfie Devine is one of the top prospects at Tottenham, having made a name for himself as the club’s youngest-ever debutant and goalscorer in the FA Cup tie with Marine back in 2021.
Since then, the playmaker has been in and around the first-team, and at just 20-years-old, still has an incredibly bright future ahead of him.
Loan spells at Port Vale and Plymouth Argyle last season helped the youngster gain valuable experience at both League One and Championship level.
However, there is now talk of him plying his trade in Saudi Arabia, with Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ittifaq interested in signing the midfielder.
Ben Jacobs shared the news on The Last Word on Spurs podcast, saying: “Even though I don’t think it’s gonna lead to anything, Al-Ittifaq, Steven Gerrard’s club are the other team that have him on their radar. They are looking to fill at the moment their Under-21 quota.”
What is the plan for Devine?
The expectation was that Devine would head out on loan once again this year, with a move to the Championship the likely outcome.
According to The Star, Sheffield Wednesday have looked at loaning the Spurs youngster. However, it was thought they faced competition from Millwall (Sam C).
Spurs Web Opinion
There is absolutely no way we would let Alfie Devine go and play in Saudi Arabia. It’s a poor league, and he would be far better served by playing in the Championship this year.
In fact, he would be better off playing for our youth team. Hopefully, a good loan offer comes in before the deadline.
