‘Brilliant’: Kangana Calls Ram Nath ‘Covid’ India’s 1st ‘Dalit President’; Netizens Engage In Meme Frenzy
Kangana Ranaut, the actor-turned-politician, found herself in the midst of another controversy recently. During an interview, she mistakenly referred to former President Ram Nath Kovind as India’s “first Dalit president,” when in fact, K R Narayanan held that title. Ranaut promptly acknowledged her error and apologized for the “misinformation”. However, her blunder did not end there she even mistakenly called Ram Nath Kovind ‘Ram Covid,’ sparking a wave of memes and jokes across social media platforms.
In an interview with The Lallantop on Thursday, August 29, the BJP MP said Ram Kovind “became the first Dalit President” while speaking about the caste census. The show’s anchor then corrected her, saying Ram Nath Kovind was the “second,” and the first was K R Narayanan. She accepted her mistake and apologised. “Sorry for my misinformation,” she said.

This uproar comes in the wake of Ranaut’s previous controversial remarks regarding the farmer’s protest.
Earlier, Ranaut faced criticism for her comments suggesting a potential ‘Bangladesh-like situation’ in India during the farmers’ protest against the now-repealed farm laws. She then alleged that “bodies were hanging and rapes were taking place” during the farmers’ protest against the now-repealed three farm laws. Her allegation drew sharp rebuke from the BJP, to which she belongs. The party distanced itself from her statements, emphasizing that she lacked the authority to speak on policy matters.
