This development was a setback for Pakistan, who are eager to level the two-match series after Bangladesh secured a 10-wicket win in the first Test, also held in Rawalpindi, on Sunday. That victory marked Bangladesh’s first-ever win over Pakistan in 14 Tests.

In squad news for Pakistan, pace star Shaheen Shah Afridi was left out of the 12-member team, as he preferred to spend time with his newborn son.
