Sensex, Nifty updates on 30 August 2024: Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty closed at fresh lifetime highs on Friday, driven by a strong global market trend and renewed foreign fund inflows. The BSE Sensex gained 231.16 points (0.28%) to reach an all-time closing high of 82,365.77, while the NSE Nifty rose 83.95 points (0.33%) to close at a record 25,235.90. Major contributors to the rally included Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank, and Infosys. Key gainers among the Sensex firms were Bajaj Finance, M&M, and NTPC, while Tata Motors, HDFC Bank, and Reliance Industries were among the laggards. Global markets also showed positive trends, with gains in Asian and European markets. Foreign Institutional Investors bought equities worth ₹3,259.56 crore, while Domestic Institutional Investors acquired ₹2,690.85 crore. V K Vijayakumar from Geojit Financial Services credited sustained accumulation by DIIs, HNIs, and selective buying by FIIs for market resilience.
