Report issues wild claim about Spurs moving for Eberechi Eze on deadline day
HITC suggest that a sensational move for Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze is still on the cards for Tottenham Hotspur.
Eberechi Eze’s release clause has expired
Even though Eze’s release clause has expired, reports continue to link the attacking midfielder with a late move away from Selhurst Park.
Miguel Delaney revealed in his Reading the Game newsletter (23/8/24) last week that the Eagles continue to be braced for late offers for the 25-year-old.
The journalist claimed that both Manchester City and Liverpool were continuing to circle over the England international with the intention of testing the waters for him.
Could Spurs make a deadline day bid for Eze?
HITC have now claimed that a move from Tottenham for Eze in the final hours of the transfer window cannot be ruled out.
The report says that Ange Postecoglou’s men have been tracking the Palace star all summer and could make a ‘statement’ by completing a big-money move for the player.
The publication adds that while the transfer for Eze at this stage of the window would come as a ‘shock’, it is not ‘out of the realm of possibility’.
Spurs Web Opinion
With Wilson Odobert and Dejan Kulusevski both able to operate as number eight/tens as well as on the flanks, and with Lucas Bergvall also making an impressive start to his Tottenham career, it would be extremely surprising if the club decided to shell out £60m-plus on Eze.
I can see Spurs and other clubs revisiting Eze in January or next summer, but there is no way that Crystal Palace will sell him today.
