Journalist reveals Tottenham discussed Germany star under Fabio Paratici

Journalist Ben Jacobs believes that centre-back Jonathan Tah, who was previously on Tottenham’s radar, could be set for a deadline-day move away from Bayer Leverkusen.

It seems like it could be a relatively quiet deadline day for Spurs, with the club not appearing close to any particular signing at the moment.

Reports seem to indicate that the club’s main focus over the coming hours might be on finding new clubs for Giovani Lo Celso and Sergio Reguilon, both of whom are down to the last year in their contracts (Football Insider).

However, it has been suggested by various sources that a surprise deadline-day signing cannot be ruled out, particularly since Spurs have conducted all their transfer dealings in secrecy so far this summer (Fabrizio Romano – GiveMeSport).

Jacobs has now revealed that Tah, who Spurs previously discussed a move for when Fabio Paratici was in charge, could be on the move over the coming hours, with Bayern Munich interested in landing the experienced German defender.

The journalist said on Last Word on Spurs: “They discussed Jonathan Tah under Fabio Paratici.

“And that might still happen for Bayern Munich, the player wants that move, but generally speaking, at this time in the window, if Daniel Levy doesn’t know his centre-back target along with the recruitment team, they won’t move.”

If a centre-back does arrive through the door in the dying hours of the window, it will likely be a young, up-and-coming player who would be open to serving as an understudy over the next year or two, rather than an experienced player like Tah.

Tah would have actually been a superb Postecoglou player had Spurs signed him with Paratici a couple of years ago though.
