Candlelight: A Tribute to Adele
When: Friday, Aug. 30 at 6:30 p.m.
Where: Alberta Rose Theatre, 3000 NE Alberta St, Portland, OR 97211
Organized by entertainment event planners at Fever, this concert will feature an orchestral performance of Adele’s greatest hits all while candles illuminate the stage. Tickets start at $37.
Montavilla Jazz Festival
When: Friday, Aug. 30 through Sunday, Sept. 1
Where: Multiple venues throughout Portland
The 11th annual Montavilla Jazz Festival will hold more than 30 concerts in 12 local venues. The lineup includes Joe Kye, Christopher Brown and the Pablo Rivarola Quartet.
Bon-Odori, Summer Festival
When: Saturday, Aug. 31 from 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Where: Portland Japanese Garden, 611 SW Kingston Ave, Portland, OR 97205
According to the Portland Japanese Garden, the bon-odori — or Bon dance — is the pinnacle of summer festivals in Japan. For this event, Chris Dart and groups from the Oregon Buddhist Temple will teach participants some moves.
Broadway Rave
When: Saturday, Aug. 31 at 9 p.m.
Where: Polaris Hall, 635 N Killingsworth Ct, Portland, OR 97217
Polaris Hall welcomes musical theater fans to sing along to some of their favorite Broadway songs as they dress up as their favorite characters. The venue has also invited Broadway actors to join in on the party.
Bridge City Block Party
When: Sunday, Sept. 1 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Where: 398 SE 3rd Ave, Portland, OR 97214
Dubstep artists like Sullivan King, Boogie T and Dirt Monkey are featured on the lineup for this 21+ outdoor dance party. Proceeds will benefit the Children’s Cancer Association and ALS Northwest.
CatVideoFest 2024 With Catnip magazine
When: Sunday, Sept. 1 at 7 p.m.
Where: Tomorrow Theater, 3530 SE Division St, Portland, OR 97202
Feline magazine Catnip will sell its latest issue as filmmakers at Oscilloscope Laboratories present CatVideoFest, a 73-minute compilation of the best cat videos. A portion of ticket sales will support the Animal Rescue and Care Fund.
Yacht Rock
When: Monday, Sept. 2 from 3:15 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: Salmon Springs Dock, 1010 SW Naito Pkwy, Portland, OR 97204
The Portland Spirit will celebrate Labor Day with its very-own 21+ Yacht Rock, to the tune of a DJ set from 106.7 The Eagle’s Scott Tom. The radio station’s will also dole out prizes throughout the two-hour cruise.
