NYC community shows support for students with brain injuries at fashion show

0

NEW YORK (PIX11) –  This week was about community champions making it happen for our children.

Patrick Donahue says his heart belongs to his daughter, 19-year-old Sarah Jane. Due to an incident when she was just a baby, sustaining a traumatic brain injury, the Upper West Side dad has now devoted his life to making sure she feels loved and supported, and hundreds of other families, too.

Donahue is the founder and chairman of Ibrain, a place where more than 100 NYC students living with brain injuries receive rehabilitation and educational services.

In Sep. 2022, PIX11 News first met the special students of Ibrain in Sunset Park, gearing up for a fashion show fundraiser. They are doing it again this year. It will be Friday, September 6, at Rodney’s Comedy Club.

Back in April, we first met The Bed-Stuy Sluggers. You fell in love with this coed youth Brooklyn baseball team. They are also supermodels. We got to see some of the snaps from a special photo shoot. Thanks to Councilmember Chi Ossé and well-known photographer Jordan Macy.

Finally, this Friday was a day of sweet kindness—all across NYCHA, one ice cream truck delivered free scoops and smiles thanks to the Public Housing Community Fund
