Manhattan street closures the 40th Annual Brazilian Day Festival
MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) – Manhattan streets will be closed on Sunday near the small neighborhood called ‘Little Brazil,’ according to the New York City Department of Transportation.
The 40th Annual Brazilian Day Festival will be in full swing as the city prepares to celebrate Brazil’s Independence Day.
“The street comes to life on NYC’s renowned Brazilian Day Festival, which began there in 1984, read a post on New York City Tourism and Convestion’s website. “This annual event, held the Sunday before Labor Day, celebrates Brazil’s independence with food, music, and dancing. It draws well over 1 million visitors from around the world and spans 20 or so city blocks.”
As New Yorkers and tourists eat traditional Brazilian foods like barbecue meats and Empadãos, these streets will be closed to traffic.
Manhattan street closures:
- 6th Avenue between 42nd Street and 56th Street
- 46th Street between Madison Avenue and 7th Avenue
