Emmerdale descends into chaos as villager is viciously attacked by relative in shock scenes
EMMERDALE’S Moira Dingle attacked Ruby Haswell in a fiery jealous rage, amid her mysterious health problems in tonight’s Emmerdale.
Moira spotted Cain and Ruby bantering, and a squeeze of the arm by Ruby left Moira’s anger bubbling up in Wednesday’s episode of the ITV soap.
After barging into Mill Cottage, Moira accused Ruby of trying to steal her husband and sleep with Cain, confusing Ruby.
As Cain and Caleb arrived, Moira headbutted Ruby and had to be restrained by Cain.
Cain took an aggressive Moira away, and Caleb hoped his promise to sort it will appease a furious Ruby.
Confused by Moira’s actions back at Butlers, Cain demanded to know what was going on.
Realising she’s forgotten to go for her blood tests, which she seemingly now knows nothing about, Cain stormed outside, leaving Moira confused and upset.
The farmer has been plagued with blackouts, seizures and memory issues for weeks now with fans suspecting everything from alcoholism to poisoning.
But while fans are debating exactly what’s wrong with Moira, actress Natalie J Robb has appeared to let slip what’s going on – PTSD.
And it’s all going to take a dark twist as Moira starts seeing visions of serial killer Emma Barton, who Moira infamously killed herself while she’s rowing with Ruby Fox-Miligan in the barn.
Natalie said: “She’s got no idea what is happening to her.
“Definitely the PTSD comes through because we’re in the barn, the triggers are what it was before it was Emma Barton in the barn when she tried to kill me, and then I had a baby I didn’t know I was having! Only in Emmerdale!
“So I think it sets something off in her, she starts to see Emma’s face in Rubys’ face. Ruby obviously doesn’t know what is going on, Moira has totally lost the plot. ‘Who’s Emma? Who’s James I don’t know who these people are!’
“I’m freaking out and actually Moira is actually quite frightened, at that point that’s who she believes she’s seeing and Ruby says something quite similar to what Emma said to her just before she tried to kill her in the barn.
“Very triggered, loses the plot a bit and doesn’t know where she’s at.”
There’s a brutal fight that follows with Ruby ending up being knocked unconscious by Moira in a haze.
Best soap affair love triangles
LOVE triangles are a fundamental part of soap-land, but which ones have become the most iconic?
EASTENDERS
Bradley/Stacey/Max: Stacey Slater began an affair with boyfriend Bradley Branning’s dad Max in 2007.
Despite their romps, Stacey still married Bradley, but their deceit came out in an iconic Christmas Day episode that year.
Grant/Sharon/Phil: Heading even further back in Walford history, EastEnders fans were gripped in the 90s as Sharon Watts had a one-night stand with her brother-in-law Phil Mitchell.
Sharon confided in best friend Michelle Fowler – not realising it was caught on tape – and her husband Grant eventually found out and played it in front of everyone at the Queen Vic.
Syed/Amira/Christian: Syed Masood was engaged to Amira before realising he had feelings for another man, Christian, which he confessed to him on his wedding day.
A devout Muslim, Syed refused to admit his true sexuality and went ahead and married Amira anyway, but when they returned, the two men started an affair before being caught in the act by Amira.
CORONATION STREET
Shelley/Peter/Lucy: Peter Barlow took the concept of a love triangle and ran with it in Coronation Street – extending it to bigamy.
He was in a relationship with Shelley Unwin but started dating Lucy Richards, and quickly married her after she fell pregnant with his son, Simon.
But it didn’t stop him also marrying Shelley, but he was eventually caught when Lucy turned up in Weatherfield and the two women confronted him.
Ken/Deidre/Mike: Back in 1982, Deirdre Barlow started sleeping with her husband’s nemesis Mike Baldwin in secret, before confessing all a year later.
When Mike turned up at the marital home, Deirdre was being throttled by her husband who then kicked her out, but years later they reconciled.
Maria/Aidan/Eva: In 2017, Aidan Connor started sleeping with girlfriend Eva Price’s best friend, Maria Connor.
Eva eventually found out and she decided to take revenge by faking a pregnancy, spending his money and planned to confront him on their wedding day.
But she had a change of heart when a remorseful Aidan confessed, and decided to marry him anyway, only for Maria to arrive and expose her fake pregnancy.
EMMERDALE
Ross/Debbie/Pete: Debbie Dingle found herself torn between two brothers, Ross and Pete Barton in 2015 in Emmerdale.
She eventually decided to marry Pete but yet again, a soap wedding day was ruined when the groom learned of his bride’s betrayal via a recording played at the wedding.
Chrissie/Robert/Aaron: Robert Sugden was married to Chrissie White and all seemed well – until he began a steamy affair with Aaron Dingle.
Robert’s ex Katie Sugden almost exposed the affair – but fell to her death before she had the chance.
However, a guilty Aaron eventually cracked and told Chrissie about the affair – after which she announced it to the whole pub.
But when Moira snaps out of it, she’s horrified and confused at what’s happened.
Natalie added: “Ruby is knocked out and then I try and wake her up when Moira is out of her PTSD moment.
“She does switch out of it and then immediately goes into trying to help Ruby. She won’t remember why Ruby is in the barn in the first place.”
But the actress is thrilled about revisiting Moira’s killer secret in such dramatic scenes.
“I thought it was great,” she said.
“When you hear about it sometimes you wonder if it will work, but I’ve definitely been assured it looks really good in the way they’ve done it and everything else, David Beecham is such a wonderful director and it was such a wonderful team that week, a fantastic week of filming.
