Love Island’s star reveals he lost £100k in ‘biggest mistake of his life’
LOVE Island alumni are famed for splashing the cash once they have been given their first taste of stardom.
But for one former islander, a bad business decision he made after his first stint on the ITV2 show cost him an eye-watering £100,000.
Love Island’s Anton Danyluk has revealed his ‘biggest mistake’[/caption] The Scots-born star lost £100,000 in Dubai[/caption]Anton Danyluk, who originally appeared on Love Island in 2019, has now lifted the lid on ‘the biggest mistake of his life’ while chatting to fans.
During the coronavirus lockdown, 30-year-old Anton controversially followed many other influencers and jetted out to Dubai on ‘work’ trips.
After arriving in the UAE , he splashed out on both an expensive Bentley car and a fancy apartment on the famous Palm.
Anton also ploughed £100,000 into a new business venture, which he hoped would make him millions.
However, it very quickly all went wrong.
Back home in his native Scotland, Anton said in a new video: “After Covid, I got invited on an influencer trip to Dubai.
“As soon as I got there, I absolutely fell in love with the place – and I never came home.
“I bought myself a Bentley, I bought myself an apartment on The Palm and I was absolutely living the dream.
“Unfortunately, it was all downhill from there.”
Anton went on to explain how he invested £100,000 in a “gym concept”, with plans to open a “nightclub gym”.
But he said: “Everything that we did went wrong.
“It took over a year for us to launch with us putting loads of money into this concept. On top of that, on the day of launch, the place flooded.
“Myself and my business partner had massive disagreements and it was just an absolute flop.
“This was the first time in my life that I’d made a bad business decision and it cost me massively.”
Anton revealed the chain of events sent him “into a downward spiral”, adding: “It really put me into a bad place.”
In the caption for his video, which was shared on Instagram, Anton said his business partner continued to try and make the nightclub gym work for another year.
He says he is glad he walked away when he did, as the business then folded and he fears it could have resulted in more of his money down the drain.
Anton added: “I’ve taken risks my whole life probably at times I shouldn’t but that’s what an entrepreneur does. You don’t fail, you learn.”
Love Island All Stars 2025 rumours
Love Island All Stars will be back for its second series in 2025 - and rumours are already rife as to who will be making a comeback this time around.
After the second All Stars series was announced in May, show boss Mike Spender said: “Lots of people have been in contact about it, lots of fun people, from series one onwards.
“We cast it because we knew what was going on behind the scenes of who was getting with who and now even more stories have come out.
“I think we will now save ex-islanders for All Stars.”
One rumoured name for the next series is data engineer Harry Baker.
Harry, 25, arrived in the villa as a bombshell in Series 11. He soon ‘stole’ Grace Jackson after making his debut.
Arriving late in the run, he only lasted for a few days before being dumped alongside Lola Deloca.
Despite the hunk’s brief stint, viewers have called for Harry’s return.
One upset fan wrote: “Get you in All Stars next”, to which Harry cryptically replied by posting ‘shrugging’ emojis.
Anton, who briefly dated Georgia Harrison after coupling up with her on Love Island All Stars in January this year, has received praise from fans for being honest about his business mistake.
One told him: “I’m sorry this happened to you Anton, but in some weird horrible way, it’s probably going to serve a purpose for you in your life. That will shape you, remind you, guide you, mentor you, and more, for the rest of your life.”
Another added: “You sometimes have to fall to rise stronger brother.”
And a third said: “Keep being the love island Anton don’t worry about the past.”
Anton and 2017 islander Georgia finished in fifth place on this year’s Love Island All Stars.
But much like his business error in Dubai, Anton has since admitted he regretted returning to the show that made him famous for the spin-off series.
He even admitted on TikTok that he “hated every minute of it”.
“Part of me wishes I had never done it again just because it kind of ruined my Love Island experience,” Anton said.
“There were times I just questioned what am I actually doing.
“I just felt too old for it that’s all, that’s the only way I can describe it.”
Anton and Georgia were also plagued with ‘showmance’ claims following their stint and they called it quits weeks later.
Shortly afterwards, the former couple got into an F-word spat at the BAFTAs.
