Real Madrid star Rodrygo poses with bizarre MOTM award as baffled fans guess it could be a ‘hamster cage’ or ‘dollhouse’
REAL MADRID forward Rodrygo was handed a peculiar Man of the Match award after Brazil’s 1-0 win over Ecuador.
The 23-year-old scored the only goal of the game on the half hour mark, firing a deflected effort into the bottom corner to secure all three points in the World Cup qualifier.
His display landed him the Man of the Match award, but Rodrygo may have been better off without it.
The giant yellow trophy was sponsored by pharmaceutical company Cimed and appeared to be in the shape of a pill.
Fans were quick to mock the award on social media as they joked about what else it could be.
One said: “Look how proud he is of his little science project.”
While another added: “A new home for his hamster.”
A third replied: “I hope that isn’t a suppository…”
And a fourth responded: “Is that a dollhouse without dolls?”
Rodrygo’s impressive performance for Brazil came just days after he responded to being left off the 30-player shortlist for the Ballon d’Or.
