Forget today’s iPhone launch – Apple fans are ‘excited’ for another top secret event rumoured to happen in weeks
ALL eyes are on Apple today as the company prepares to launch a bunch of new iPhones.
But Apple fans are getting “excited” about rumours of a second event from the tech giant in a matter of weeks with even more gadgets.
Fans say a new iPad Mini is ‘well overdue’[/caption]September is traditionally the month for major iPhone announcements, with the new AI-capable iPhone 16 family expected to take centre stage.
There’s sure to be news about the free iOS 18 update with greater customisation than ever before.
Late reports suggest there could be another fan-favourite on the agenda too.
New AirPods Max with improved audio and noise cancellation as well as USB-C could be unveiled.
However, some fans are already focused on another Apple launch event that might take place in October.
Official details are still under wraps at the moment but according to Bloomberg the event is on the cards.
Last year, Apple held a virtual October event for new MacBook Pro and iMac models with the M3 series of chips.
This year, it could be the scene for iPads.
A brand new iPad Mini could be among the announcements if the event really does take off.
Rumours have suggested that a much faster chip may be onboard, as well as upgrades to the front and rear camera.
There’s been talk of possible faster Wi-Fi capabilities too.
As well as the iPad Mini, the first Macs with the more powerful M4 series of chips could be revealed in October as well.
This would reportedly include the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro, Mac mini, and iMac.
“Excited for the Apple Event. Even more excited for the upcoming one in October,” one user wrote on X in reaction to the news.
“So glad they aren’t killing the mini. It’s the perfect iPad,” another commented on Reddit.
Meanwhile, a third said a new iPad Mini was “well overdue”.
iPhone tricks to try today
Here are some of the best...
- Typing cursor – When typing, hold down the space bar to turn your keyboard into a trackpad, letting you move around words and sentences more easily
- Close all Safari tabs – To do this in one go, simply hold the overlapped squares in the bottom right-hand corner, and press close all tabs
- Delete lots of photos quickly – Hold down on a photo and then drag your finger diagonally in Photos to select lots of images at once, then hit delete
- Convert currency quickly – Swipe down from the top of your Home screen (or swipe left to right on an iPhone X or later model), then tap in the bar and type a currency (like $200) and it will automatically covert to your local currency
- Check if you’re due a battery upgrade – Batteries inside smartphones degrade over time. Just go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health, and check out the Maximum Capacity reading. Generally a battery is considered worn when you’re down to 80% capacity. If you’re below, you can buy a battery swap from Apple
- Move apps around faster – Hold an app until it starts wiggling, then (while still holding) tap other apps, causing them to stack so you can move them around easier
