The Gauhati High Court has sought a response from the assembly speaker regarding Congress MP Rakibul Hussain's petition for disqualifying suspended MLA Sherman Ali Ahmed. The court ordered all respondents to file affidavits before September 27. Earlier, Hussain had submitted a disqualification petition under the 10th Schedule of the Constitution, which mandates timely decisions by the speaker.
