I’m a curly-haired trichologist – my 4 mane must-haves include a ‘gold standard’ for growth & products to minimize frizz
A HAIRCARE pro with curly locks has shared the beauty must-haves she needs to maintain her mane.
The trichologist revealed that she uses a “gold standard” budget buy to maximize her growth and other products to minimize frizz.
Trichologist Tiffany Young, pictured, shared her four mane must-haves to enhance her curly locks[/caption]Tiffany Young is a certified Trichologist and the Founder and CEO of Thin Hair Thick, a hair supply company.
She told The U.S. Sun some of her go-to products and methods to care for thinning hair.
CURLY Q’s
Even though she has a curly 3A/2C hair texture, Young has experienced her fair share of thinning throughout her life.
She comes from a family of thin-haired women who wanted ways to achieve fullness but safely and healthily.
“My main concern is adding volume and treating thinning and dry hair,” she said.
According to the entrepreneur, some contributors to thinning could be poor diet, hormonal imbalance, stressful events including sickness or postpartum, menopause, and medications.
HOLY GRAIL HELP
Young has several “holy grail” products in her arsenal to help.
They include four must-haves that keep her locks luscious and thick-looking.
Her first must-have is Minoxidil 5%, which can improve sparse spots and thinning.
“If you are looking for medication to treat thinning, minoxidil is the gold standard,” she said.
She explained that “it helps lengthen out the hair growth cycle and contributes to more hair that is actively growing.”
The buy can be purchased on Amazon for less than $20.
She also recommended shampooing with a DHT-blocking shampoo which can help those who suffer from androgenetic alopecia.
Another item she can’t live without is a “good leave-in conditioner.”
It “hydrates curls” but she added that it “must be free from silicones and alcohol” to be the most effective.

Before putting any hot tools on her hair, she applies a heat protectant that protects her curls from blow dryer damage and minimizes frizz.
Although she can let her hair air dry, she also uses a diffuser to minimize frizz.
DISGUISE DETAILS
When it comes to having faux full locks, Young said you have to “fake it till you make it.”
She shared her expert tips for disguising thin hair.
“Play around with alternative hair like hair toppers and hair extensions,” she suggested.
Opt for non-damaging types that will not cause traction alopecia, she added, like those with clips and tight extension bonds because they will speed up thinning.
