Former Enid nonprofit director accused of assault/sentenced for embezzlement

ENID, Okla. (KFOR) — Deborah Wilczek was sentenced on Wednesday to two-and-a-half years in federal prison after she embezzled hundreds of thousands of dollars from a nonprofit and a Montessori in Enid.

She was the former Executive Director of the YWCA in Enid and was in charge of the finances back when the crimes were committed.

Wilczek was also a board member of the Cimarron Montesorri in Enid when she embezzled funds from them, too.

"We're so grateful that justice was served," said Courtney Dennis, current Executive Director for the YWCA.

The judge told Wilczek on Wednesday she was ordered to pay YWCA Enid $139,308.35 in restitution, $221,622.45 to Cimarron Montessori, and $78,819 to the Internal Revenue Service.

Wilczek originally had been arraigned on 17 felonies: two counts of wire fraud, six counts of bank fraud, two counts of uttering forged securities, two counts of aggravated identity theft, and five counts of false federal income tax return.

However, in the end, she was found guilty of two charges which led to her sentence.

The indictment that came down in May 2023 alleged Wilczek accessed the YWCA and Cimarron’s business bank accounts and made several unauthorized accounts for personal expenses. Wilczek allegedly obtained or tried to obtain an estimated $414,951.35 from the two nonprofits.

"So that will go right back into where it should have been the whole time and helping victims and families recover from abuse," said Dennis.

Chief U.S. District Judge Timothy D. DeGiusti sentenced Wilczek to serve 30 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release.

The Superseding Indictment further alleges Wilczek willfully filed false federal income tax returns for the years 2016 through 2020, where she listed her total income substantially below the income received as a result of the fraud described above.

Also on September 3, Wilczek was arrested in North Enid for Domestic Assault and Battery after police said she attempted to break into a home and scratched her husband's neck.

As of Thursday, she still sits in Garfield County Jail.
