Fort Edward man charged with rape in Moreau

MOREAU, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Saratoga County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of a Fort Edward man following a sexual assault investigation. Zepplin Murphy, 40, is facing multiple charges.

According to the sheriff's office, Murphy is accused of restraining and forcibly having sexual contact with a woman at a home on Route 9 in Moreau on September 10. Deputies received a report of the incident on Wednesday night, and the ensuing investigation resulted in Murphy's arrest.

Murphy was charged with first-degree rape and second-degree unlawful imprisonment. He was arraigned at the Moreau Town Court before being released on his own recognizance, with further action in the case upcoming.
