Postecoglou provides update on Bissouma after injury on international duty
Ange Postecoglou provides a fitness update on Yves Bissouma following the Mali midfielder’s injury on international duty this week, just days before the North London Derby.
Bissouma picks up an injury for Mali
Bissouma enjoyed a successful international break, scoring in back-to-back games in African Cup of Nations Qualifiers for Mali, including a winner on Tuesday.
However, things looked a little worse come the 60th minute of the match against Eswatini when Bissouma had to be withdrawn after an opponent stamped on his foot.
LondonWorld reported that Bissouma caught the first possible flight back to London to receive treatment at Hotspur Way in an attempt to be ready for the North London Derby.
Postecoglou provides an update on Bissouma
Ange Postecoglou has now revealed that Bissouma will need to be assessed over the next two days to see whether he can play any part in the derby fixture against Arsenal.
The Spurs boss said (Tottenham Official): “We had the last of the boys in late yesterday so we’ll have a look at them today and everyone’s reporting all well except for Biss. He’s got a bit of an issue, but we’ll have a look at him over the next couple of days and see how it settles.”
Postecoglou also provided an update on the striker situation at Spurs, with Richarlison and Will Lankshear still on the treatment table.
He said: “Richy’s still got a bit of work to do, alongside Will Lankshear who is still in rehab.”
Spurs Web Opinion:
It sounds like Bissouma still has a chance of starting against Arsenal on Sunday, which would be a huge boost for Tottenham.
If he doesn’t quite make it, I assume Postecoglou would just name Bentancur in the pivot role to start the North London Derby.
