NY Sen. Jessica Ramos joins race to become NYC mayor
QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) – State Sen. Jessica Ramos has thrown her hat into the ring to become New York City’s next mayor.
The Queens Democrat made the announcement Friday morning in her first campaign video.
In the video, Ramos appears to jab at her incumbent rival, Mayor Eric Adams, saying, "You never have to wonder who I'm working for, or who's paying me." The comment appears to be a reference to several federal investigations that have marred the Adams administration.
Ramos is not the only political figure challenging Adams in the 2025 Democratic primary.
New York City Comptroller Brad Lander and state Sen. Zellnor Myrie have announced mayoral campaigns. Former NYC Comptroller Scott Stringer has also said he is considering running.
Ramos will sit down with PIX on Politics Friday afternoon for her first interview since announcing her campaign. Tune in at 5:30 p.m. for the full interview.
