AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin Police (APD) hosted a conference Friday related to the continuing investigation of the missing man who was found dead in the Austin greenbelt in April.
APD provided an overview of the case and asked for help identifying new leads.
The investigation was related to the death of Cristian Rangel, which occurred in April near 5800 Spring Meadow Road in southeast Austin.
APD said Rangel was last seen in south Austin on April 8, and his body was found near a southeast Austin neighborhood April 19.
Rangel's family also attended the conference and his mother, Misty Moon, provided a statement.
Previously, APD said a woman, later identified as 31-year-old Kamery Wooldridge, was charged in connection with Rangel's death.
According to police, Wooldridge was involved in Rangel's death and the disposal of his body. She faces one count of tampering with human remains.
As of June 6, Wooldridge was no longer in the Travis County jail; however, she is scheduled to appear for a court hearing Oct. 2.
