Downtown Topeka house fire causes $20,000 in damages

TOPEKA, KS. (KSNT) - The Topeka Fire Department (TFD) responded to an early morning house fire on Saturday, September 14.

The fire was located at 1112 SW 8th Ave. According to a press release from a spokeswoman with the fire department, the fire was able to be taken out quickly. There was no one in the home and no injuries were reported.

According to a TFD Investigation Unit, preliminary information indicates the cause of the fire as incendiary. The estimated total loss of the fire is approximately $20,000.

Smoke detectors were not located in the house.
