Sunny, chilly & blowy
Hello Friends,
As you may have noticed, it’s very windy (and cold too). Around the time I grabbed the snaps it was SW 17-27 kts along the beaches. The Bureau is forecasting the swell to build into the 4-5 metre range by midday by which time the wind should be gale force 30-40 kts (60-80 kph). The MHL buoy was seeing 4.5 metres at 10 seconds as of 0900, but the main energy was coming from 188° (ie, S by SSW) so it was mostly heading away from us. As the pictures show, it was more like waist to occasionally shoulder high in the semi-protected corner at Dee Why.
The crazy windy conditions are set to dial back by tomorrow but they’ll be straight south, so expect even fewer surf options. Swell’s supposed to decrease too, but it should still be in the 2-3 metre range on Tuesday morning.
By Wednesday things should be settling down, with potential for offshores early and sunny skies along with fun-size shoulder-ish high stuff at south magnets.
Have a great Sunday everyone!
Weather Situation
A cold front is bringing a vigorous southerly change to northern waters and will reach the Queensland border around midday. Southerly winds will be reinforced as another trough moves along the coast during the day, followed by another front brushing the coastal waters on Monday. After this, a high pressure system is forecast to move overhead, ahead of a trough arriving on Wednesday.
