Dayton lands 3-star guard Jaron McKie

Jaron McKie, the three-star combo guard from St. Joe’s in Philadelphia, committed to Dayton on Saturday.
Ranked the No. 18 combo guard in the 247Sports Composite, the 6-foot-3, 170-pound guard also considered St. Joe’s.
“I will be taking my talents to Dayton because when I went up there I felt like I was right at home,” he told ZAGSBLOG. “Also, I felt like I was surrounded by a great group of people.”
As for what type of player he’ll be at Dayton, the said, “I will bring shooting and scoring.”
Jaron’s father, Aaron McKie, was selected 17th overall in the 1994 NBA draft by the Portland Trail Blazers. Aaron played 15 seasons in the NBA and was formerly the head coach of Temple from 2019-2023. Jaron also has two younger brothers that are twins and an older sister.
McKie’s favorite NBA players are Devin Booker and Anthony Edwards.
“I try to [model] my game around Devin Booker,” McKie said. “He’s not the most athletic, and I’m also not the most athletic. He likes to get to his mid-range, so do I. He started off as as shooter. I feel like we have some similarities there.”
He is Dayton’s second commit in 2025 following Damon Friery, a 6-foot-10 forward from Cleveland St. Ignatius
