These LPSS students are semifinalists for a $2,500 National Merit Scholarship
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- Four Lafayette Parish School System students were named as 2025 National Merit Scholarship semifinalists.
Those students are Seth Wall of Early College Academy, Cade L. Deroche of Lafayette High, Joseph C. Boulanger of David Thibodaux STEM, and Marian Akinsoji of Early College Academy.
LPSS said in a news release that this recognition is a testament to their hard work, dedication and academic excellence.
"This achievement reflects the unwavering commitment of our educators, administrators, and support staff who have worked tirelessly to deliver an enriching curriculum that sets students up for success in college and beyond. To say we are proud of these young people would be an understatement," said Superintendent Francis Touchet Jr.
The students will move on to the selection of finalists and could earn a $2,500 scholarship. Finalists will be notified in February.
