Hard rain of 1 foot and more inundated the southeastern coast of North Carolina on Monday, as a storm with no name moved ashore. The National Hurricane Center calls it Potential Tropical Cyclone 8 and said in forecast updates that the front will weaken as it travels over terrain overnight.
