Patriots Captain Speaks Out After Significant Injury Update
Injury was added to insult for the Patriots after they suffered their first loss of the 2024 NFL season.
Je'Whaun Bentley reportedly is in danger of missing the remainder of the campaign due to a torn pectoral muscle. It was a brutal update for New England, especially after an initial report indicated the team was "optimistic" the veteran linebacker wouldn't miss any more time following his first-quarter exit Sunday. When Bentley left the contest, the Patriots' official destination was a shoulder injury.
Bentley didn't hang his head after tests revealed a torn pec, though. A team captain the last three seasons, Bentley posted on his Instagram story Monday with a caption that read "God don't make mistakes."
The 2018 fifth-round also shared another Instagram post Monday with scenes from New England's matchup with Seattle, coupled with a caption that featured a pair of heart emojis.
The Patriots now will be tasked with replacing a staple of their defense who only missed a combined two games over the last three seasons. New England's first game following Bentley's injury will be on short rest, too, as it will take the MetLife Stadium field Thursday night for a Week 3 matchup with the rival New York Jets.
