LANCASTER, Ohio (WCMH) – Two juveniles have been arrested after allegedly making an online threat towards a central Ohio school district, which closed its doors Tuesday.

According to the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were notified by the Federal Bureau of Investigation of a potential threat to the local school district. An investigation revealed that two juveniles were suspected of making unspecified threats.

In coordination with the Fairfield County Prosecutor’s Office, the two juveniles were arrested and taken to the Fairfield County Multi-County Juvenile Detention Center. In a statement issued by the school district, Superintendent Chad Belville said charges will be filed.

“The Fairfield County Sheriff’s Department has detained two individuals in conjunction with the investigation, and the Fairfield Union Local School District will be pursuing charges against those individuals,” said Superintendent Chad Belville.

Though Belville expressed disappointment that school operations were cancelled Tuesday he said that “I am satisfied that any potential threats have been addressed at this point,” and, “due to this now being a criminal case, we are limited on the details we can share with our community.”

School operations, including after-school activities and athletics, are cancelled on Tuesday, though Belville said all school operations will resume Wednesday.
