Special Olympic student athletes get a surprise visit
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — Special Olympic student athletes at John Marshall Enterprise Middle School received a surprise visit from three Oklahoma City Thunder players on Wednesday.
Alex Caruso, Alex Ducas and Nikola Topić paid a visit to Special Olympic student athletes and the schools basketball team while they were at basketball practice.
The Thunder players and Thunder Youth Basketball coaches got involved in basketball scrimmages and also ran skills drills with almost 40 students.
"Yeah we had a scrimmage, me and some of the other coaches and some of the Special Olympic kids versus the middle school team. It was hard fought, we came out on top, it was a very close game," says Alex Caruso, Oklahoma City shooting guard. "It was a lot of fun, you know, seeing the smiles and the enthusiasm on the kids faces. That's why we're here."
Thunder players even took time to sign gear for the kids.
