Canadian Urban Institute launches new annual Kathleen Llewellyn-Thomas Civic Service Award
The Canadian Urban Institute (CUI) has announced a new award which aims to recognize urban champions across Canada who dedicate their time, energy, and resources to making cities better places to live, work, and play.
The Kathleen Llewellyn-Thomas (KLT) Civic Service Award celebrates leaders who “think creatively, act boldly, and drive meaningful change” in urban environments.
The annual award was named in honour of the late Llewellyn-Thomas, who was known as an inspiring city builder in Toronto, who also held senior positions in York Region, Halifax, and Vancouver.
The award will recognize a municipal employee or community leader whose commitment to public service has enhanced the quality of the built environment, and benefited both the community and the individuals in it.
Nominations will remain open until Sunday, October 13, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. ET. For more details on eligibility and more, click here.
The CUI is an organization dedicated to advancing urban solutions and collaborates with city builders, researchers, and community leaders to create thriving, equitable and sustainable urban spaces across Canada.
The organization is hosting the second annual State of Canada’s Cities Summit on December 5 and 6 in Ottawa which brings together influential Canadians each year to address global, regional, and local challenges facing our cities.
