Rain to sun around Portland area Friday

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Early morning rain showers will fade as fall-like conditions continue around Portland Friday.

Lingering clouds will slow the warming process across western Oregon and southwest Washington Friday afternoon. Sunnier and drier skies are expected before sunset when temperatures warm into the low- to mid-70s along the Willamette Valley.

Friday's rain accumulation isn't expected to be any more than a couple of one-hundredths of an inch. The end of Friday's rain showers will mark the start of Oregon's latest drying trend. The dry and mild conditions are expected to last through the weekend.

A decrease in cloud coverage Sunday will make for fair views of the rare comet sighting along the eastern horizon before sunrise.

A gradual warming trend is expected to push much of the Willamette Valley back to the upper 70s by Tuesday. The warming trend doesn't last long. Afternoon highs will struggle to make it into the 70s by the middle of next week.

The next chance for rain comes with the decrease in temperatures next week. A sun cloud mix is expected for much of next week with fall-like temperatures.
