Schodack man arrested after multiple burglaries
SCHODACK, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Schodack Police announced that an arrest was made following a burglary investigation. Lucas Tirey, 27, of Schodack, is facing numerous charges.
On Thursday just after 7 a.m., police received a call about suspicious activity near County Route 7 in East Schodack involving a man pushing around a wheelbarrow full of tools. The suspect reportedly fled the area after being confronted by the caller.
Responding officers found several tools strewn across the ground at the scene. Throughout the morning, several residents reported seeing someone on foot who matched the description of the man with the wheelbarrow, but patrols were not able to locate the suspect.
Around 11 a.m., a resident on East Schodack Road contacted police, stating that a man had just entered their home, who ran off after being spotted. Officers arriving to the area located Tirey in another occupied residence nearby, where he was taken into custody. He now faces the following charges:
- Three counts of second-degree burglary
- Two counts of petit larceny
- Two counts of criminal possession of stolen property
- Resisting arrest
- Obstruction of governmental administration
Tirey was arraigned at Schodack Town Court before being remanded to Rensselaer County Correctional Facility without bail. The East Greenbush Police Department and New York State Police assisted with the investigation.
The Schodack Police Department still has several unclaimed tools that were recovered. Anyone with information regarding the items is asked to contact SPD at (518)477-8077 and leave a message after selecting option six.
