Motorcycle crash near Acadiana High School puts rider in hospital
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- A motorcycle rider is in the hospital after a crash near Acadiana High School last night, authorities said.
Lafayette Police responded at 7:44 p.m. Thursday to a report of a traffic accident involving two motor vehicles at the intersection of Rue du Belier and W. Congress St. One subject involved in the crash was taken to a local hospital, where he is currently in critical but stable condition.
Investigators said an unidentified person on a motorcycle was traveling south on the 600 block of Rue du Belier at W. Congress St. in the left turn lane with a green signal (no arrow). A second vehicle was traveling north on Rue du Belier with a green signal at W. Congress St. The motorcycle attempted to turn left onto W. Congress St., crossing Vehicle 2’s travel lane, resulting in a collision.
The driver of Vehicle 2 was taken to the Lafayette PD where he provided a voluntary breath sample of 0.000g%BAC.
The crash is still under investigation, police said.
