Tropics are hyperactive as more tropical development is possible close to the Gulf
Storm Team 10 and the National Hurricane Center are monitoring a hyperactive Atlantic Basin with multiple named systems along with areas that could develop in the coming days. Helene continues to push up into the Ohio River Valley as a tropical storm. Hurricane Isaac and Tropical Storm Joyce are in the central Atlantic but aren't expected to pose a threat to reach the United States. Another area of low pressure could form behind Joyce but the chance is low at this time.
Our attention will be back on the western and central Caribbean Sea next week. Models are suggesting that an area of low pressure could form within the same area that Helene formed and a tropical system may reach the Gulf in the 7 to 14 day period. The forecast is highly uncertain and any impacts to the U.S. are unknown at this time. The NHC has a 30% chance for tropical development in the next 7 days. The next name on the list is Kirk.
