JPMorgan Chase CEO visits childhood neighborhood in Queens

0

NEW YORK (PIX11) -- PIX11's Monica Morales spoke one-on-one with JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon in the Jackson Heights neighborhood of Queens where he grew up.

Dimon said his grandparents were Greek immigrants who didn't finish high school. He said it was important for him to go back.

Dimon is one of the most well-known bankers in the world. He spoke with PIX11 News about his plan to invest big in the community, including more than $2 million in grants for small businesses in Queens.

The Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn also got a fiscal shot in the arm with a major financial institution moving in. A new $6 million Brooklyn branch opened Wednesday on Fulton Street.

Dimon hopes it will help a community historically underserved by financial institutions.

Community banks offer financial literacy and small business coaching. Dimon plans on opening up 100 community banks across the country.
