MANILA, Philippines—Chris Newsome turned on his “Gilas Pilipinas” form when Meralco faced off against foreign foe Macau Black Bears in the season opener of the 2024 East Asia Super League at Mall of Asia Arena on Wednesday. The Bolts subdued the Black Bears, 97-85, behind the efforts of Newsome who led Meralco past overseas opponents.
