Just hours before his death Coly tragically posted an orange love heart emoji on his Instagram story saying “I love y’all”.
His manager shared news of his death on social media saying: “Rest in peace @iamlucascoly I love you bro. My heart is ripped in half. Wait for me up there.”
“Being your manager was one of the reasons I stayed here. There’s a hole in my heart right now Lucas. We used to speak on our struggles all the time but smile for the fans.
“So many people hurt us again and again but we had each other. I don’t know what to do now. I’d be a hypocrite if I told you not to, and I go and do the same.”
“Pray for Amber y’all,” he added, referencing Coly’s longtime girlfriend Amber H.
Coly and Amber rose to fame with their joint YouTube account, which hasn’t been updated in two years.
In his heartbreaking tribute, Coly’s manager revealed he spoke with Coly before his death.
He said: “And for those wondering how I know if it’s true…. 1) I was his longtime manager and 2) because I was on the phone with him moments before.
He went on to say that Coly was “more of a brother” than one of his clients.
The manager also asked fans to respect Amber’s privacy, writing, “Please give her time to process and heal.”
On Instagram, he pleaded with his viewers to always check on their friends and expressed regret that he didn’t “do more” to help Coly when he was struggling.
Coly’s exact manner of death is unclear, but police confirmed he died by suicide and that the circumstances are not suspicious.
The rapper was born in France and moved to the US when he was eight years old and used the language in his songs.
In 2017, he told DJ Small Eyez in an interview: “I’m looking forward to making more music with French in it. I feel like that’ll expand.
“I got French fans, I got fans—of course—in other countries, so I got to come home now.”
