0

Bristol Flyers lost 83-72 defending champions Bakken Bears in their ENBL season opener on Wednesday evening at the Sparekassen Danmark Basketball Center.

Despite a team-high 19 points from Demond Robinson in his European debut with Bristol and 18 off the bench from Evan Walshe, it would not be enough as they fell short.

Urald King led Bakken scoring a game-high 27 points shooting 11/16 from the floor, adding seven rebounds to his tally.

Five Bakken players scored in double-digits, including a double-double performance from Jacob Polakovich with 12 points and 11 rebounds coming off the bench.

The first half of the game was a back and forth affair between the two teams, trading leads through runs.

However, the Flyers came out on top at half-time taking a four point lead (33-37) following a three-pointer from Kedrian Johnson (13 points) just before the buzzer.

The Danish side came out of the break rejuvenated, inflicting a 11-2 run to Bristol to start the third quarter and take control of the game.

Nonetheless, Andreas Kapoulas’ side fought their way back into the game, only trailing by two entering the fourth quarter.

But Bakken stayed in control of the game relying on their three-point shooting to increase their lead.

Up next, the Flyers will face Bamberg Baskets on October 16th at home, the German side hold a 1-0 record in the competition.

Box score.
