Royalty payments from Indian subsidiaries of multinational companies to their overseas parents have risen by nearly 42% over the past five years. An analyzed set of ten companies indicated cumulative payouts crossing Rs 8,000 crore in 2023-24. Despite some resistance, several firms have successfully increased their royalty rates, reflecting the growing profitability of these Indian operations.
