Three cyclones across the Atlantic, Milton to become a major hurricane in Gulf

Locally, nice weather is in the forecast through the next seven days!

The main jet stream will reside well to the north of us through the next week, which will lead to steady state weather through the weekend.

Hot temperatures continue today and tomorrow with highs near 90 degrees, but a front is expected to push through by Tuesday. This will bring us cooler weather for the middle and end of the week. Highs will be in the mid-80s and lows will range from the upper 50s to lower 60s!

TROPICS

The tropics continue to remain active with three separate systems across the Atlantic. Hurricane Kirk continues to move across the northern Atlantic and will continue to weaken as it moves into cooler waters.

Leslie has also become a hurricane and has really strengthened overnight. Leslie will follow Kirk's path and remain an Atlantic system.

Milton is of the most concern as its projected to strengthen rapidly and is landlocked, meaning it will have to make landfall somewhere. Unfortunately, that somewhere appears to be Florida by mid-week. Intensity models show the possibility of a strong category three or a category four.

Like Helene, storm surge will likely be a major issue across the west coast of Florida and mass evacuations will be needed, possibly across the Tampa area.
