Spurs half-time ratings vs Brighton – Six in a row for Brennan

0

The first half of Premier League action between Brighton and Hove Albion and Tottenham Hotspur has just come to an end.

Tottenham came into the match on a high after winning all five matches in all competitions and looking to build on last week’s 3-0 victory at Manchester United.

It was no surprise when Ange Postecoglou decided to recall the likes of Micky van de Ven to his Tottenham starting XI, after resting the Dutchman for the 2-1 win at Ferencvaros in the Europa League on Thursday.

The North Londoners are looking to improve on their away record which has only seen them pick up one point in the Premier League away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium so far this season.

Following the referee David Coote blowing for the interval, we have analysed the displays of the Tottenham players and given each of them an individual player a rating on a scale of between 1-10.

Tottenham lead 2-0 at the break after goals from Brennan Johnson and James Maddison.

Tottenham player ratings from the first half at Brighton

Guglielmo Vicario: Saved well from Mitoma on 26 minutes, has rarely been troubled. 6.

Pedro Porro: Nearly played a brilliant through ball to Maddison but slightly overhit it. 6.

Cristian Romero: Played a lovely ball to set up a chance for James Maddison on five minutes. Will be thankful Welbeck missed his chance after he sneaked in behind him. 6.

Micky van de Ven: Class, as always. 7.

Destiny Udogie: Back in the side after injury, has done well and looked to get forward at every opportunity. 7.

Rodrigo Bentancur: A solid shift from the Uruguayan in front of the back four. 6.

Dejan Kulusevski: Plenty of running and energy from the Swede on the right flank, has caused lots of problems. 8.

James Maddison: Showed good control from Cristian Romero‘s pass, but couldn’t find the back of the net. Had a goal ruled offside but got on the scoresheet seven minutes before half time after a howler from the keeper. 7.

Timo Werner: Spurned a chance for Spurs to open the scoring within the first minute when he overhit a cross meant for Johnson. Has had lots of opportunity down the left, if only he could consistently play a final ball. 5.

Dominic Solanke: Saw the run of Johnson beautifully, Harry Kane-esque. His link-up play has been impressive. 7.

Brennan Johnson: Six in six for the Welshman after he latched onto Dominic Solanke‘s pass. Could have had a second but fired over. 7.
