August was the ninth month in a row in which global air cargo demand increased by double-digits, in year-on-year terms, the International Air Transport Association (IATA – the representative body for the global airline industry) has reported. Total global demand rose by 11.4%, while international demand increased by 12.4%. Total global cargo capacity was 6.2% higher, year-on-year, while the increase for international operations was 8.2%. The increased capacity was mainly the result of the increased availability of airliner belly hold volumes, which grew by 10.9% over the same period. Total global air cargo capacity reached its highest ever level in August.
