Gloversville sex offender sentenced to 7 years for assault
GLOVERSVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Gloversville suspect in the Fonda, Johnstown, and Gloversville Rail Trail stabbing was sentenced in Fulton County Court as a second-time violent felony offender on Tuesday. Kristerfer Passino, 42, a registered sex offender, faces seven years in prison and five years of post-release supervision.
This follows Passino's guilty plea to second-degree assault and fourth-degree tampering with a witness back in August. As part of his plea, Passino admitted to stabbing a woman walking on the Fonda, Johnstown, and Gloversville Rail Trail on August 29, 2023.
Gloversville Police stated the victim was able to escape the attack and later identified Passino as the suspect, leading to his arrest. NEWS10 was in court and heard the judge speak on the fact that Passino's previous conviction for attempted kidnapping, kidnapping, and rape in 2003 influenced his decision in this sentencing.
The judge also issued a 20-year no-contact order of protection for the victim of the assault against Passino.
