St. Jude holds Lafayette groundbreaking for 2025 Dream Home Giveaway
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- KLFY is now partnering with St. Jude Children's Hospital for its annual Dream Home Giveaway. And today, they officially broke ground on the new house.
The house, which will be built by McLain Companies and expected to be valued between $750-800,000, will be located at 628 Greyford Drive in Greyford Estates in Lafayette.
It costs $2 million a day to run St. Jude Hospital, which provides care at no cost to its patients.
Bryan McLain, CEO of McLain Companies, said St. Jude is a charity that benefits closer to home than people think.
"Louisiana sends the second-most patients to St Jude Hospital in the country," McLain said. "So that's an unfortunate thing for us here in Louisiana, but it's fortunate that we have such a great place to go to."
For those not familiar with the giveaway, $100 tickets will go on sale when the house is finished around April, and the winner announced in June. All proceeds will go to fund the mission of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to help cure childhood cancer.
"St. Jude is the most giving organization that I've ever been around, and that's why we do it," McLain said. "They have really impacted the lives of so many people across the world, not just in the United States."
